The proposed development of a 100,300sq.ft B2 General Industrial and B8 Storage and Distribution space on previously undeveloped land known as Goodfellows Field, Birtley.
The development site is located in a prominent location adjacent to the A1 and the speculative development consisted of several units with flexibility to respond to market demand for commercial space.
S.A.J prepared a Transport Assessment (TA) to assess the impact of the development on the local and strategic road network, including nearby A1.
The planning application was also accompanied by a Framework Travel Plan (TP). A key issue included the accessibility of the site by sustainable modes of transport.
The application received support from highways officers at Gateshead Council and Highways England offered no objections to the development proposals, contributing to the proposals receiving planning approval.
The first unit was occupied in September 2015 and S.A.J has subsequently been commissioned to prepare the Final Travel Plan (TP) and undertake the role of Travel Plan Co-ordinator (TPC) for the whole site on behalf of Ravensworth Property Developments LLP.
